My night

10:00 pm Put Brigham to bed.
10:30 pm Put myself to bed.
11:30 pm Can't sleep.
12:35 pm Still Can't sleep.
1:00 am Finally fell asleep.

2:33 am Ring..Ring..Ring.. The house phone. I'm expecting the worst. First thought, who is hurt? Second thought, is our house on fire? (although if I had been thinking clearly, which is pretty hard when you've been awoken from a deep sleep, nobody really knows our house phone number). Brian answers it, and it's a salesman. Thanks a lot buddy!

3:10 am Finally back to sleep.
4:25 am Nightmares. (I won't share what they were because they were too scary)

Brigham slept through the entire night. The last few nights I haven't heard him cry in the night, but I wasn't sure if it was just because I was too sound asleep to hear it. Now I know I wasn't being a horrible mother. I hate salesmen.

Instant Backyard

I have a love hate relationship with our HOA. They made us landscape our backyard. I love that we have a backyard, but it was definitely inconvenient. I was very impressed with the workers who did they job. They were very fast. My mother in law came over Wednesday, and they had cleared the land, but not much else. Then she came by yesterday morning and it was completed. It was insane how quickly they accomplished it.

Our first ward choir performance

Yesterday was the first performance of our ward choir since it's been under the direction of Brian and I. Normally Brian does the directing, and I do the behind the scenes work. Well, the pianist's grandma died and she wasn't going to be able to make it, so I had to direct the choir ( AHHH!) while Brian played. (Luckily Brian plays the piano so well.) It went pretty well, and the choir sounded decent. I am not nearly as talented as Brian and I was pretty nervous to think I was most likely being compared to him when I directed, but oh well. We're given callings sometimes to give us opportunities to improve our talents, and that's definitely what happened yesterday.

Memory Tag

One of our friends had this tag on her blog and I thought it would be fun to join in.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Superman Workout

Brigham has introduced me to a new exercise move. I can't hold the position as long as he can. It's pretty tough, you should give it a try.

Marriage Is What Brings Us Together Today

Saturday Brian was a groomsman at his friends wedding. The crazy part about this wedding is the bride was one of my friends in elementary school who moved away in 4th grade. We lost contact. When Brian's friend and his fiance came over for dinner he introduced his fiance as "Kristen". I took one look at her and said "Kristen Allworth"? It was kind of surreal.

The wedding was beautiful. (I also made her bouquet).

Summer Haircuts

I was sick of my long hair in this summer heat, so I did it. I went to Albertson's the other day and noticed a "Super Cuts" in the parking lot. I decided yesterday to finally have it cut. I brought in this picture and said "I want this"

This is how it turned out (it looks a little better in person and it's hard to take a picture of yourself that looks good).

Not quite what I was expecting, but I guess that's what I get for going in to a "Super Cuts". You get what you pay for.

Verlin Anson Hatch

Today marks the one year anniversary of my dad's passing from this life to the next. Last night Brian and I were enjoying music at the piano, and it hit me that at that time last year I was with my entire family (all 41 of us) saying goodbye. So many memories came back, and although there were some that brought tears, they were all good memories (except for the morning sickness that started that week).

My dad, to me, was a mentor. Most of all, he was an example and a beacon of righteous living. My last youth conference my mom and dad came along. We were in Wyoming and one of the vehicles had broken down. My dad had looked at it the night before we were to leave, but couldn't figure out the problem. He went to bed that night and said a prayer asking the Lord to show him what needed to be done. The next morning, he still couldn't figure it out. We were all loading into the bus to travel home, and the owner of the vehicle was going to have to stay behind at this ranch we were staying at. I remember sitting down with my dad, and just before we were about to leave he got off the bus and told them to go on ahead. He was pretty confident that he would be able to fix the vehicle and said they would meet up with us when we stopped for lunch. I don't know that I could have told everyone to go ahead. I'd be afraid that I would be stuck without a way to return home. We stopped at a Wal-Mart parking lot for lunch, and about twenty minutes later my dad came pulling in to the parking lot. He was so confident that he could fix it, not because of his own knowledge, but because of his faith and relationship that he had with our Heavenly Father.

I could tell countless stories of the things I learned from my earthly father, but the most important thing that I learned from him (and of course my mother) is to trust in the Lord. He also taught me to serve (sometimes it drives Brian crazy because I have a hard time knowing when it's okay to say no).

Thank You Dad!
