Well, so far I have managed to survive while Brian and Mom have been gone at Wood Badge, almost.
I was getting ready to put the kids to bed and retire myself to the basement to fold laundry. I turned off the lights and locked up the doors and headed downstairs. Ephraim's room has the doorknob on backward and while I was putting Ephraim in his crib, Brigham came in and closed the door. He has this nasty habit of locking doors and I am constantly getting mad at him over it.
When I realized the door was locked, I went into panic mode. Brian and Mom won't be home until tomorrow afternoon. I tried to make a key out of a wire hanger, but I couldn't get it bent straight enough to get it in the hole. I am imagining us trapped in the room with no food for a day and getting really frightened. I decided we could climb out the window, but then what would we do. The house is locked up tight like a prison jail, windows included, and the garage door pad had stopped working about a month ago. I opened the window (in the process I broke the blinds, oops.) and hoisted Brigham out of the window. I did not want to leave Ephraim alone, so I told Brigham to run to the Davis' and tell them mommy needs help. After a couple minutes I began to wonder if Brigham could really do it, so I opted to leave Ephraim alone and climbed out the window. I found Brigham in the middle of the street. He said he was just trying to go to the neighbors, although I am not sure which neighbor he was going to as he was walking in the direction of the Austin's home.
Thank goodness for such a good neighbor. Russ Davis was home and climbed down into Ephraim's room. For some reason, the doorknob wouldn't unlock, so Russ ended up using a bobby pin to unscrew the doorknob and get it open and come to the rescue. What a relief that we didn't have to stay down there too long, and I was especially grateful that I was dressed.
After all that, I went down to close the window and put Ephraim back to bed, and Brigham came down and did it again. Luckily the house wasn't locked up this time.

Sometimes events seem humorous after the fact but are very scary in the middle of it all. I'm glad that you were able to figure this one out! Maybe we'd better fix that doorknob.:)
Ahh.. Kids! Glad you guys were ok and got out ok!
